The Special Republican Party Primary Runoff election is being held on Tuesday, Aug. 25. All Isle of Palms voters participating in this election will vote at the Isle of Palms Recreation Center. City Hall will not serve as a polling location for this special election. For details, see the SC Election Commission.

August 13, 2026 – The dredge is currently undergoing repairs and sand pumping has been paused. To date, Marinex has placed approximately 350,000 cubic yards of sand along the beach. Work remains on schedule, with crews expected to complete Reach 1 and begin work on Reach 2 during the first week of September.

August 10, 2026 – The crew should be finishing up drainage around 32nd Avenue while the utility contractor finishes utility offsets at Sparrow Drive and 3605 Waterway Blvd in the next week or so. As the utility offsets are completed, the drainage contractor will work on finishing the drainage and pathway in the same areas. We’re still waiting on AT&T to relocate their utilities around 32nd Avenue...

August 10, 2026 – Work in front of Mariner's Walk and Shipwatch is now complete and the beach area is fully open to the public. The fenced construction area has progressed north, spanning from Summerhouse to Port O' Call.

August 5, 2026 – After the crew assessed the weather conditions yesterday morning, the dredge prepared for tow from the Charleston harbor out to the Isle of Palms borrow area. The dredge began pumping sand again around 3:00 pm (08/04).

August 4, 2026 – After assessing the conditions offshore, crews are planning to tow the dredge out to the Isle of Palms borrow area later this afternoon. Dredge Wadmalaw has been down in the Charleston Harbor for the past few days due to weather offshore.

August 3, 2026 – While attempting to install the C8 structure on Saturday (08/01), The Bastion Group encountered groundwater issues. As a safety precaution, they have extended the 32nd Avenue closure and barricades while the excavation remains open. They will have additional pumps onsite Monday (08/03) to control the groundwater and complete the structure installation.

August 3, 2026 – Dredge Wadmalaw is in the staging area near Fort Johnson in the Charleston Harbor due to inclement weather offshore. Crews are continuing to monitor the weather and anticipate towing back out to the borrow tomorrow (08/04) afternoon if weather allows.
