Update on 2026 Offshore Beach Renourishment Project

October 8, 2026 – The dredge is currently sheltered in Charleston Harbor due to unfavorable offshore weather conditions. This season’s nor’easters have been particularly persistent, taking longer than usual to clear. Based on current weather forecasts, Marinex anticipates resuming dredging operations on Tuesday, October 13, with Reach 2 now expected to be completed by October 21, weather permitting.

Reach 2 is more than 90% complete, with approximately 75,000 cubic yards of sand remaining to be placed. The City will continue to monitor progress and provide updates as work resumes.
