May 12, 2026 - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Ahtna crews have wrapped up their work on the South End of the Island and fully cleared their staging area.
The breach inlet access has been restored to normal — cleanup is complete, parking bumpers and boulders are back in place, and police barricades are up to prevent vehicles from driving onto the beach.
All original parking spots are back and ready to use.
The South End is fully open and accessible to the public — back to normal operations!
